English Course

A) General information:
This Course for lover-intermediate students of the English language is planed as a particular supplement to our programme. It's aims are, first of all, to reinforce the students' existing knowledge of English, and then to prepare them for interaction with their peers from abroad on the topics central to the programme. These topics include cultural stereotypes, reflections of identity, civil society and cultural correspondences in a shared Europe. As such, the Focus will be on enhanced effectiveness in communication, grammatical clarity of purpose, and building a resource of vocabulary to Facilitate discussion.

B) the number of students in one group: 10 to 12
the group should be as small as possible, to enable the instructor to work with students individually

C) length of the course: 9 months

D) the organization of the classes:
once a week: one session 2x45 min.

ITC Course

A) General information:
  • the course is addressed for beginners - for seniors who have never had any experience with computer
  • the goal of the course is to introduce computer technology to seniors and provide them with a basic computer skills (using equipment, communicating with software, simple editing and formatting texts, opening and saving documents and using the Internet for searching information) and knowledge (knowing the rules of computer working and software using, understanding about the Internet)
  • the course should be also used for overcoming the feeling of social exclusion of seniors in the modern world
  • senior- students should have teaching materials provided, that are tailored especially for them
  • an instructor should be able to communicate with students "on the same level" and understand their point of view (no young inexperience person, students and so on)
  • the learning pace must be slower
  • an instructor mustn't use technical jargon, it is very good to introduce new terms and concepts using examples which are familiar to seniors
  • it is very important to create a friendly and supporting atmosphere during the course which helps seniors to boost their self-esteem
B) the number of students in one group: 5 to 7
the group should be as small as possible, to enable the instructor to work with students individually

C) length of the course: 24 x 45 min.
it is recommended that extra time is allowed for individual counseling as well as using computers for individual learning

D) the organization of the classes:
twice a week: one session 2x45 min,
in general the first session should be devoted to introduce and learn a new topic, the second - to develop and master gained skills

E) the main topics:
  • familiarizing students with equipment and the way of manipulating it (especially with the mouse) - 2 h
  • introduction of the OS - its components and ways of communication - 3 h
  • operating of the user software - 2 h
  • word processor - basic rules of typing and editing texts - 3 h
  • computer memory: saving and opening documents - 3 h
  • Internet - 7 h
  • E-mail - 4 h
